Window Hardware
Hardware is the ‘mechanism’ of a window or door. It is a set of components that allow the window or door to function as intended – they can be opened, tilted, set to the micro-ventilation position, or securely locked (if a lockable handle is chosen). The type of hardware determines whether sliding doors can be operated by the lift-and-slide or tilt-and-slide method.
Although hardware is not immediately visible, it has a major impact on ease of use, security, and the lifespan of a window or door.
Window hardware is a complete mechanical system that includes:
Hinges
Locking Points (Pins)
Gearboxes
Handle
We can also offer concealed hinges as a modern and elegant solution.
For entry doors, hardware operates on a different principle. Instead of locking points that engage around the entire perimeter of the window when the handle is turned, there is a system of locking points only on the handle side of the door. Locking is done using a cylinder and key.
Hardware Maintenance
To ensure hardware functions reliably for many years, we recommend lubricating it once a year.
These are simple tasks that significantly extend the lifespan of the hardware and the comfort of use.
