The most prominent visual element of an entrance door is the panel. Choosing the right one is essential for both the appearance and the function of the door.
What is a door panel?
A door panel is the surface that fills the door leaf. It can be:
- solid (opaque)
- glazed
- combined (e.g., solid sections alternate with glass—clear, decorative, opaque, etc.)

We manufacture the door leaf and frame from Schüco profile systems designed for entrance doors—the panel is selected by clients according to the style of the house and their budget.
We supply panels from proven manufacturers. For many years, we have worked with the German company Adeco and the Slovak family company GAVAplast. There is a truly wide range of PVC, aluminium, and HPL panels to choose from.
What types of door panels are available?
Plastic (PVC) panel
Affordable, with a shorter service life and lower durability. Suitable for renovations with a limited budget or for less exposed areas. We supply PVC panels only in white.

HPL door panel (High Pressure Laminate)
An extremely durable laminate pressed under high pressure and temperature, with a solid construction. Suitable for family homes as well as passive buildings. Available in various colours, decors, and also with glass. We use it for coloured PVC doors, because the colour of an HPL panel is achieved by laminating with foils. This ensures colour consistency between the panel and the door profile (door leaf and frame). HPL door panels are often regarded as the ideal balance between price and quality.

Aluminium panel
Chosen for aluminium entrance doors. The colour is achieved by powder coating; when the same finish is used on both the door profiles and the panel, a colour match is achieved. Maximum durability, modern minimalist appearance. Aluminium is the highest standard for demanding new builds or very high-traffic entrances.

Glazed panel
A combination of light and privacy, with various types of glass (clear, sandblasted, frosted, patterned, safety glass, laminated glass). It can be standalone or combined with solid sections. This solution is ideal for entrances that should feel airy and let in daylight.

Recessed vs. door-leaf-overlapping (“overlay”) panel
A door panel can be:
-
Recessed (set into the door leaf; the leaf remains visible) more affordable, easier to replace if damaged
With this solution, the panel is set into the leaf similarly to glass, using glazing beads.
- “Overlay” door-leaf-overlapping panel
the panel overlaps the frame on one or both sides—if it overlaps on one side, it is always on the exterior, luxurious and modern design,
higher price, replacement is not possible if damaged.
With this solution, the panel is bonded to the door frame with a special adhesive, “covering” it so it is not visible.

How to choose the right door panel?
Consider these questions:
- How exposed is your entrance to weather and sunlight?
- Do you want the door to let in light?
- What is your budget?
- Do you have design requirements for the appearance (e.g., pattern, colour, handle)?
- Do you have special requirements (fingerprint access, backlighting, etc.)?
The ideal solution always depends on the specific conditions of the project. We will always be happy to advise you and help you choose the right panel—both functionally and visually. Get in touch with us.
Summary
A door panel is more than just a slab in the door leaf. It is the face of your entrance door. From HPL to aluminium—each solution has its specifics. If you are looking for an affordable panel that will last, an HPL door panel is an excellent choice. If you want a design-led entrance, a door-leaf-overlapping aluminium panel may appeal to you. If you are not sure, we will help you weigh the pros and cons. There are truly many options. Get in touch with us and together we will find the right solution for you.
