Even in PVC, it is possible to design larger glazed areas. However, the structural limits of PVC must be respected.

Why large PVC windows have dimensional limitations
Plastic (PVC) is a good material for standard window sizes. With large formats, however, the physical properties of the material come into play and cannot be bypassed:

- greater PVC expansion with temperature changes
- lower dimensional stability at large sizes
- increasing weight of the glass and sashes
These factors determine how far it is reasonable to go with a PVC window.
What are the maximum dimensions of large PVC windows
For PVC windows, we work with the following indicative limits:

- maximum length of the longer side (for a laminated profile): approx. 2.6–3.0 m
- maximum area of one element (for a laminated profile): up to 6 m²
- maximum glass weight (for fixed glazing): approx. 250 kg

Large glazed areas – more dividing profiles
With larger elements, a PVC solution is implemented using dividing profiles.

- This has consequences:
- the visual cleanliness of the glazing is reduced
- in some projects this is acceptable
- in others it is already distracting or architecturally unsuitable
At the same time, with a large number of dividing profiles, the price difference between PVC and aluminium may decrease.
Truly large glazed areas without compromises? Aluminium is the better solution
If your goal is the largest possible glazed area with a minimum of dividing elements, aluminium is technically a more suitable material than PVC. It allows larger dimensions, slimmer frames, and stability even in demanding architectural solutions.
Therefore, for projects with large glazed areas, we often recommend considering large-format aluminium windows, which offer greater design freedom as well as long-term functionality.

FAQ - large PVC windows
Are large PVC windows possible?
Yes, but only up to certain dimensions and with technical limitations.
Why are PVC windows limited in size?
Due to thermal expansion, structural requirements, and the load-bearing capacity of PVC profiles.
Is it possible for a large PVC window to have no dividing profiles?
It depends on the dimensions. Beyond certain sizes, the weight of the glass, the length of the profiles, or the area of the element becomes so large that dividing profiles are necessary.
Is aluminium better for large windows?
In most cases, yes – it allows larger dimensions and a cleaner design (slimmer profiles).
